  • Jolly Roger's Jackpot Slots is one of the best pirate themed slots we have ever played, and we have played our fair share across the high seas of the internet. It looks amazing, in many ways is on par with a feature film or video game, and there really isn’t much to fault about this wonderfully well produced effort in a genre filled with half.

Jolly Roger's Jackpot is a slot machine by Rival. According to the number of players searching for it, Jolly Roger's Jackpot is not a very popular slot. Still, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad, so give it a try and see for yourself, or browse popular casino games. To start playing, just load the game and press the 'Spin.

Jolly Roger 2 is a 5×3 video slot played along twenty paylines and is the sequel to Jolly Roger. It’s an exciting pirate-themed slot with lots of swashbuckling features and plenty of action to keep players on their toes.

The game has 4 HP symbols all represented by pirate treasure; jewellery, a diamond, a golden cross and a ring. The ten through Ace card values represents the LP symbols.

There is a Wild symbol in the form of a pirate flag. The pirate flag will substitute for any HP or LP symbol to help players create paylines wins.

Red Roger is the in-game Scatter, he lands on reels 1, 3 and 5, and he will launch one of the game’s special features, let’s take a look at those.

Sea Compass

The Sea Compass is a multiplier reel which can activate on ANY spin and award a random multiply any featured wins by up to 10x the player’s bet.

The multipliers featured on the compass are x2, x3, x5, x8 and x10.

Bonus Quest

Landing three Scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5 will trigger the Bonus Quest mini-feature.

Once triggered, Red Roger himself will invite players to take part in a unique quest of their own choosing. Players are invited to pick from several rolled-up scrolls, each containing one of the quests listed below; matching three of the same quest will begin the feature.

There are four different quests to choose from, Bottle of Rum, Freebooter Spins, Instant Prize and the Treasure Map Hunt.

Bottle of Rum

If Bottle of Rum is selected, players must pick from five bottles of rum (one for each reel), if they uncork the bottle, it will unleash a stack of Wilds onto its reel and then pick again. If the bottle doesn’t uncork, then the feature will be over.

Freebooter Spins

If a player chooses Freebooter Spins, they will battle against the armadas of England, Portugal and the Netherlands, or pillage a Merchant Ship for a chance to plunder even more booty!

The feature gives players three lives at the start and one of the ships is randomly chosen to select who they go up against. Whether they win or lose the battle determines what reel modifier they get during the spins

If the Merchant Ship is chosen the player automatically wins but, if the Dutch, Portuguese or British ships are selected the battle will begin!

The battles take place on a 3×3 grid, and each row will be a best of 3 contest between the pirate’s symbol and the armada’s symbol; the side with the most symbols on the grid wins.

If the Armadas win, the player’s will lose a life, if the pirate’s win they can gain their life back but can only have a maximum of three lives.

After each battle the player will get a spin using the winner’s reel modifier:

Pirate Ship: Fully stacked Wilds will be placed on a random reel.

British Armada: All HP symbols will be upgraded to the highest symbol.

Portuguese Armada: Will select one or two symbols and turn all instances of them on the grid into Wilds.

Dutch Armada: Synchronizes three reels with identical symbols.

The feature continues until the player loses all three lives.

Treasure Map Hunt

JackpotJackpot Jolly Spin

Revealing Treasure Map symbols will activate the Treasure Map Hunt quest, a free spin feature where players will sail the seven seas in search of their fortune.

Treasure Map Hunt will award an initial ten free spins. During the free spins, they will have to collect four pieces of the treasure map to find where the treasure is buried.

Once the map is complete, it will uncover a treasure chest, containing a reel modifier that will be applied to the remaining free spins. The modifiers are either the Sea Compass multiplier wheel or a symbol upgrade (LP upgraded to Wild, HPs upgraded to most valuable HP).

Each time the treasure map is completed, it will award more free spins. The first six times will award two additional spins, and then on the seventh time, it will award five extra spins.

Pirates are a popular theme among slot creators, so I was on the lookout for that little something special with Jolly Rogers Jackpot. Graphically, this game is a step up for Rival Gaming with 3D animations and transparent reels. There is an engaging bonus game (which involves blasting ships with a cannon!), a free spins round which comes with a 3x multiplier and expanding wilds during regular play. The top prize (which can be multiplied during free spins) is 5000 coins.

You can tell this is no ordinary Rival Gaming slot from the pirate themed introduction video. The slot screen itself is equally impressive, packing in a lot of details without feeling too crowded or cluttered. On the left hand side is a bare-chested pirate, which will move and react to your play in 3D. Around the frame of the reels are palm trees, with an impressive skull logo above. The reels themselves are transparent. When they spin you will see a harbour scene behind the symbols.

Many of the symbols are also 3D, and the animations when they form wins are impressive. I liked the skull and crossbones the best – this comes to life with an evil laugh when wins are created. Jolly Roger himself is the expanding wild. He will cover entire reels by standing up and grinning; the game will say ‘Jolly Roger’ with a bit of a British accent when this happens. Other symbols include cannons, muskets, anchors and a treasure chest. There is an electronic tune when you spin the reels, which is not particularly in keeping with the theme. During the free spins game you’ll get to hear something more akin to a sea shanty.

Setting Sail – How Jolly Roger’s Jackpot Slot Works
There are 50 win lines for this game – in keeping with many of the latest games from Rival. You can select however many you wish. Experienced slot players will know what choosing the maximum gives the best chance for those expanding wilds to make up winning combinations. Coin sizes vary from 1c through to 25c, and you can play between 1 and 10 coins per line.

The biggest prize is for the pirate which is not Jolly Roger! The guy with the long chin is worth 5000 coins for 5, 500 for 4 and 50 coins for 5. During the free spins game, wins are multiplied by 3, so you can win 15000 coins from a single line.

Roger himself is the wild symbol, substituting for the non-scatter symbols to create wins. This symbol only appears on reels 1, 3 and 5 – and will expand to cover all 3 rows when it hits.

The next best paying symbol is the ships compass, worth 800 coins for 5, 200 for 4 and 30 for 3. The others are the anchor (400 for 5), cutlasses (300), cannon (150), chest (100), bottle (90), Skull (75) and finally the pistol (65).

There are two scatter symbols, which are not tied to win-lines. These are the pirate ship, which triggers the bonus game if you hit 3+ anywhere on the reels. The female pirate triggers the free spins game. If you get 3 anywhere on the screen you get 10 free spins, 4 will get you 20 and 5 gets the maximum 50 free spins.

The break out bonus game is very impressive. The screen is dominated by the ocean, and your task is to shoot ships and then grab the treasure which comes out of them. You get 3 shots, and will have to wait for your cannon to recharge between them. Hitting the ships is easy; you just point your target and click. Coins and gems then fall out and float downwards; you click these to win the coins associated with them. They fall slowly, so it is easy to collect them all.

Free spins are more standard, a counter framed with wood roped together (the same as the pay table design) comes down to keep track of your spins and wins. The male pirate from the left disappears, and is replaced by a 3D female one, who claps along to the tune playing, and hopefully your wins. Play is the same as for the main game, only the wins have a 3x multiplier. This can make a big difference, especially when you hit an expanding wild or two! You can retrigger for more spins with 3+ female pirates.

Jackpot Jolly Spin Game

For me Jolly Rogers Jackpot is a hit. It is hard to compete with this theme, which so many other software houses have done before; Rival Gaming has done an excellent job here. The overall 3D look and feel is an excellent starting point, though I’m sure it is the big win potential from the 3x multiplied free spins and engaging bonus game which will keep you coming back for more. Check this game out for yourself soon!
